Head of Department

I became Head of Department of Social Sciences on 1st August 2014 and now find writing a blog has bumped down my list of priorities! It’s fun and exhausting being HoD.

This week we have been discussing National Student Survey results – we did pretty well, but want to do better (of course). We’ve been talking about Key Performance Indicators. And I met with our Marketing Officer, who has some great ideas.

I also examined a PhD this week. Congratulations to Roxana Morosanu for defending her thesis admirably and for being recommended Pass with no corrections. It was my special treat that the external examiner was Professor Marilyn Srathern, with whom I had lunch and a lovely chat.

On top of that, I have marked 6 MA dissertations this week. Now I must turn my energies to reading an entire draft PhD thesis of one of my current students.
